I decided to pass on it and bought my SMT but returned to the dealer a week later and explained to them why it was leaking. They couldn't figure out why it was leaking (cup holder filled with water, bins filled with about an inch of water) and were prepared to buy me a completely new top of my choice if I bought the car. When I was originally looking to get into my second Spyder, I came across one at a Mitshubishi dealership. I usually only have to do that once a year. I usually fill a 16.9 oz bottle with water, dump it directly into that area while forcing the straw into the hole and whatever crap might be in there is washed out. They're pliable enough to get down into the drain and snake through the crap that might be caught up in there. My secret to keeping 'em leaf-free is two heavy duty straws duct taped together. I live in south Florida and keeping crap out of those drains is a must, otherwise, it only takes one afternoon monsoon to get the sloshing sound in the bins and a cup holder filled with water. It's design is to let the water out when the main drain is clogged.IMO it does not work well at all. The drain tube runs into the door pillar itself behind the plastics. There is also an overflow 's drain is located further up the side of the bags above the main drain. Many times they collect leaves, garbage, etc.that block off the main drains. If you take off your package tray inside the car, you will fairly eaisly be able to get to the bags and clean them out as well. Be careful trying to take the flapper piece off from the outside as it will break and then you will be stuck in a bad situation. There are multiple ways to clean that out by using a piece of coathangar, etc. Right behind your intake vent mounted just behind both doors is the flapper (Tailgate drain) that is the drain point for the main drain at the bottom of the bags (Side gate seals). First understand what the side drains are.they are a set of bags mounted in your car from the door pillar around to the rear corner of the top.
